Directions for First year J.D. Applicants
The priority application deadline for first year students is March 1, 2008. (This is a postmark deadline.)

    1. Thoroughly complete the application for admission. You may use an online application, available here. Or, if you prefer to use a hard copy application, download the application here. We also require you to submit a personal statement, resume, signed certification letter, and nonrefundable $50 application fee. If you apply online, the certification letter must be signed and mailed with your application fee. If you use a hard copy application, the last page of the application includes the certification letter, and must be signed and mailed with your application fee. Checks or money orders payable to the "University of Oregon" are accepted. The mailing address is: Office of Admissions, University of Oregon School of Law, 1221 University of Oregon, Eugene OR 97403-1221.

    2. Register for and take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) at www.lsac.org or call (215) 968-1001. If you take the LSAT more than once, your highest score is used for reporting purposes.

    3. Register with the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) at www.lsac.org or by calling (215) 968-1001. LSDAS will create an LSDAS Report that contains your LSAT score(s), a copy of your LSAT writing sample, copies and analysis of your academic transcripts, and copies of your letters of recommendation (we require two letters of recommendation). Upon receipt of your application and application fee, we will request your LSDAS report from LSAC, which will be included in your file.

Please note that the absence of the application fee or any other required document described above will prevent your application from being reviewed. See our "Admissions Tips" and "FAQ" web pages for more information about applying to the University of Oregon School of Law.

First Year International Applicants
If you are not a US citizen or US resident alien, you must apply as an international student. The priority application deadline for international applicants is January 15, 2008. (This is a postmark deadline.)

    1. Same as I. above.

    2. Same as II. above.

    3. Register with the JD Credential Assembly Service (JDCAS) at www.lsac.org or call (215) 968-1001 for information.

    4. Register for and take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) at www.ets.org/toefl. A score of 250 (computer-based test) or 600 (paper-based test) is considered competitive. The TOEFL is not required of international students with a bachelor’s degree from a college or university in the U. S. or of English-speaking students from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. For admission to the fall 2008 J.D. program, we will only accept TOEFL scores taken within the two years preceding the date of your application.

If you are admitted to the law school, your financial institution must certify, in U.S. dollars, that you possess the resources necessary to cover educational and living expenses while in the United States. Additional documentation or information may be required by the institution or the U.S. government once an international student has been admitted.

Please note that the absence of the application fee or any other required document described above will prevent your application from being reviewed or your visa from being processed. See our "Admissions Tips" and "FAQ" web pages for more information about applying.
