The Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) presents: “TEETH MARKS ON STONE,
TEETH MARKS ON ARROW” by Drew Viles
Siletz (Joshua/Sixes/Lower Chinook), has worked for decades as an educator. A former Associate Judge in the Tribal Court of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon and a graduate of the Tribal Law Session at the National Judicial College, Viles will share stories (some real and some made-up) that demonstrate the vanquishing power of words for Indians-in-law.

On Friday, November 20, 2009, The Portia Project and the Women's Law Forum will cosponsor an all-day conference entitled "Prisons and People: A Focus on Incarcerate Women and Their Children." The conference, which will be held in Room 142 of the Knight Law Center, is free and open to the public. The invited speakers and participants include Max Williams, the Director of the Oregon Department of Corrections; attorneys and judges; counselors and administrators at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility; representatives of community organizations that assist women who are under post-prison supervision; and formerly incarcerated women and their family members.
