Description:
Two years. Supervise the work of law students in the clinic; work directly with and on behalf of youth and families in DC. Share responsibilities for teaching clinic seminars twice weekly; building relationships with community groups and resources; initiating new research and service projects; collaborating with other youth and poverty law advocates in DC. Fellowship, Georgetown University Law Center, Federal Legislation Clinic, Washington, DC
Description:
Two years. Goal of Clinic is to provide a comprehensive education regarding the federal legislative and administrative process through active involvement in selected pieces of legislation and regulations. The Clinic represents 2-4 organizations each year on various issues. Fellows engage in background research on bills, participate in coalition work and meetings, and conduct negotiation sessions with Congressional staff, etc. Each fellow supervises six JD students enrolled in the Clinic.
Qualifications: LL.M candidates interested in developing their skills as legislative drafters, negotiators, and supervisors. Degree is awarded to fellows who have successfully completed the program and a portfolio of material developed during the fellowship. Will be required to take the DC bar exam or waive into the bar if already admitted in another state.

Assistant Attorney General, Oregon Department of Justice, Financial Fraud/Consumer Protection, Salem, OR

Work with a team within the Section that is charged with the responsibility of evaluating, directing the investigation of, and prosecuting civil construction fraud cases. Workers' Rights Advocate, D.C. Employment Justice Center, Washington, DC

Funded for one year; possibly extended for a second year. Bilingual (Spanish) advocate position. Center's mission is to enforce the rights of low-income workers in the DC metropolitan area by providing free legal assistance to the working poor, and by becoming the center of a local workers' rights movement. Advocate will reach out to low-wage workers in the local community with a particular focus on immigrant workers, to determine their employment-related needs in light of the current economic downturn. Work to craft and implement advocacy and service strategies.
Qualifications: JD preferred. Relevant criteria for selection includes prior workers' rights experience either as an attorney or advocate; experience working in and with low-income communities; and experience with community-based education, organizing, and/or advocacy. Written and verbal fluency in Spanish is an absolute requirement.

Two-year positions. Organization is a not-for-profit firm of 15 lawyers devoted to providing high-quality representation to indigent defendants primarily in criminal appeals in state court and collateral proceedings in state and federal court. OAD is a unique hybrid: part law firm; part training program. Each staff attorney is intensively trained and supervised. Every case is double-teamed by a staff attorney and supervisor.
