Following a clerkship with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, O'Fallon taught at Richmond and Detroit law schools and was a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow at Harvard. His scholarly work, including articles on Marbury v. Madison and the Missouri Controversy, focuses on constitutional history and theory, and legal philosophy. His most recent work is Nature's Justice: Writings of William O. Douglas (Oregon State University Press, 2000). O'Fallon also serves as faculty athletic representative to the NCAA for the University of Oregon.
