Before joining the law school faculty in 2002, Metcalfe worked for the Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, in Washington, D.C. His area of practice involved the intersection of new technologies, cyberspace and criminal law. Metcalfe worked for six years as a trial and appellate attorney with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
