Merv Loya recently retired after 21 years as an assistant dean and director of career services. He began his career as a Legal Services lawyer in Portland, was the director of the legal services program in Eugene during most of the 1970s, and in management and administration with a 20-attorney Eugene firm for several years. He served as president of the Lane County Bar in 1998-99, was an elected member of the Oregon State Bar House of Delegates from 2000 to 2006, and served on various Oregon Bar and Lane County Bar committees, including an OSB Strategic Planning Committee and OSB President's Advisory Committee on Future Issues. He currently is the School's representative to the OSB Loan Repayment Assistance Program Advisory Committee.
