Pat Vallerand directs and supervises the Domestic Violence Clinic. She also is in private practice as a mediator and arbitrator and is a hearings officer for the state of Oregon. After law school, she entered private practice with an emphasis in juvenile and family law from 1980 to 1996. She taught trial practice as UO adjunct professor from 1986 to 1988. Vallerand was a pro tem judge with the Lane County Circuit Court Juvenile Department from 2000 to 2002.
