Oregon Law Student
Takes On United Nations Externship
Oregon Law third-year student Tim Ream recently began an
externship abroad with the United Nations.
Ream began working in the Climate Secretariat in Bonn,
Germany, in early September helping to provide support to the parties
negotiating a new climate agreement and helping to implement the original
Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol.
Currently, Ream is working on reference materials that will
travel to Bangkok where a meeting is scheduled to take place on the legal
nature of an agreement in Copenhagen.
Professor Svitlana Kravchenko played a behind-the-scenes
role in facilitating the externship for Ream -- a result of her countless
contributions to international law throughout the years.
In addition to Ream, 2009 graduate Mariah Kennedy also began
an internship recently with the Secretariat of the Aarhus Convention in the
United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. |
