Dear Admitted Student,
We look forward to getting to know you!
Right
now, youre probably getting ready for your first year of law school.
You're excited, curious, and - if you're new to the state - wondering
what Oregon is like.
You may also be sobered by global challenges, concerns about
career, and what the future may hold.
Let me tell you why I think the University of Oregon School of Law will
equip you with the best tools to succeed in this quickly changing
world.
We are convinced that, in three years at Oregon, youll be
ready for the most challenging legal position you could hope for.
Our faculty has been there many of them practiced for years with
the countrys major law firms, corporations, and government agencies;
many of them are known nationally for cutting edge legal scholarship.
All of them are great teachers.
Were a small school you will get to know your teachers (guaranteed)
and youll undoubtedly make life-long friends.
You also will be a part
of one of the nations 62 major research universities and can take
classes in a number of disciplines and well let you apply some of
those credits to your law degree.
We are one of 80 law schools in the country and the only one in Oregon with
membership in the law honor society, Order of the Coif .
We incorporate skills training the nuts and bolts you need to know to
practice law into our doctrinal (academic) courses. Our Legal
Research and Writing program is highly ranked.
Domestic Violence clinic law students represent more than 400 battered
women each year.
Oregon Child Advocacy Project fellows work on live
court cases around the most devastating child welfare issues.
Law school is a serious investment but the UOs affordability is still a plus.
Welcome to this remarkable place! Sincerely, |
