Oregon Law Students Advance to Nationals in American Bar Association National
Appellate Advocacy Competition
Oregon Law students Madeline Engel and Colin Love-Geiger recently won the American
Bar Association Regional Appellate Advocacy Competition in Las Vegas and will
compete at the national competition this April in Chicago. Oregon Law students Kali Montague and Paul Bruch also received high scores at
the regional competition.
The competition emphasizes the development of oral advocacy skills through realistic
appellate advocacy experience. Competitors participate in a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme
Court, write a 40-page brief as either respondent or petitioner and argue the
case in front of a mock court.
Congratulations, Madeline and Colin, and good luck at the national competition!
