February 20th 2008 Oregon Law Students Compete at National Trial Competition
Oregon Law students, Jordan Bates, Andrew Cicerrella, Jessika Palmer and Lissa
Casey, recently competed at the National Trial Competitions regional competition,
held Friday Feb. 15 to Sunday, Feb. 17, at Creighton University School of Law
in Omaha, Nebraska.
Bates and Cicerrella advanced to the semi-finals during the competition, losing
to a team from Creighton University who ultimately won the competition. Palmer and Casey came within three points of advancing to the semi-final round.
We were facing a very competitive field, including some of the best advocacy
law schools in the country, says Joseph Metcalfe, assistant professor and director
of clinics and externships at Oregon Law.
The National Trial Competition is an inter-law school trial competition sponsored
by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Teams comprised of two graduating seniors serve as trial attorneys. Regional competition winners advance to the National Competition held in Texas
in the Spring.
