Concurrent J.D./M.B.A.

Do your career plans require in-depth knowledge of business planning and decision making in addition to law? Consider our concurrent J.D./M.B.A. program with the UO Lundquist College of Business - its Oregon MBA program is ranked best in the state, and second in the Pacific Northwest.

ADVANTAGES:
Less Time
Complete both degrees in three and a half to four years instead of five.
Fewer law credits required
Concurrent degree students must earn only 75 credits, rather than the usual 85, at the law school. (However, you may not include externships or special projects towards your law degree.)
Fewer M.B.A. credits required
Concurrent degree students need only 5 electives - regular MBA students must take 12.
Accelerated M.B.A. option
If you have a bachelor's degree in business, you may apply for the accelerated M.B.A., which allows you to skip the first year of the two-year program and saves money. (If your undergraduate degree is in any other discipline, you must enroll in the regular M.B.A. program.)

J.D. Select classes totaling 45 credits (37 graded) including:
  • Constitutional Law II LAW 644
  • Legal Profession LAW 649
  • Meet all business school and law school graduation requirements
Applying for the concurrent degree
Students must apply separately to each program. Most students apply first to the law school and apply to the M.B.A. program during their 1L year in law school.

Once you are admitted to both programs, a separate (and quite complex) concurrent degree form is required. For assistance, contact Sue Sullivan, LCB student services administrator at (541) 346-3368.
