Legal Research and Writing is Ranked 10th Nationally
The Legal Research and Writing (LRW) program at the University of Oregon continues to rise in national ranking and is considered one of the top programs in the West.
In its most recent survey, U.S. News placed Oregon's LRW program 10th of all 193 ABA-approved law schools. Legal writing professors from around the country vote in ranking legal writing programs.
The LRW program at Oregon will take another giant step forward during the 2008-09 academic year, as the school just hired an additional full-time LRW professor. This move will further reduce student-teacher ratios in the first-year LRW course and allow Oregon to offer more upper-level writing and research courses.
Oregon had one of the first legal writing programs in the country, and it continues to be a leader in the field. LRW professors lead presentations at national conferences, hold important positions in national organizations, and write on a number of topics.
The focus of Oregon's LRW program has remained consistent since its inception: teaching students real-world lawyering skills in a challenging, but supportive environment.
