Applying for an Internship

Who May Apply

First and second year law students at the University of Oregon may apply for international internships with OILP. Students must be in good academic standing and have a demonstrated interest in international issues. In order to be eligible for an international internship funded by OILP, students must complete a minimum of ten volunteer hours with OILP during the academic year for which they are applying.

How To Apply

In order to apply for an international internship with OILP, applicants must submit an internship application. Applicants will be required to submit a completed internship application, a volunteer hour reporting form, resume, and unofficial transcript. Applications will be available the third week in January 2008, and will be due to OILP on Monday, February 18, 2008.

Legal interns are selected for the OILP programs at the end of March. Selection criteria are based on numerous factors, some of which are program specific. These factors include previous academic or professional experience with the specific areas of focus the individual programs, international experience, language skills (if relevant), and demonstrated ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and cooperatively with others of different cultural backgrounds. Although applicants are required to submit transcripts, overall GPA is not a determining factor in selecting individuals for a given internship position.
