technology > wireless quick fixes for windows
If you’re having a problem connecting to uowireless, here are a few tips that should get you connected:
1. Locate Network Connections from the Start menu, and then find "Connect To" and click "Show all connections"
2. Once in the Network Connections window, right-click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon and choose "Properties" (if you are having a problem connecting, this icon should say "Not Connected" or "Unavailable").
3. Select the Wireless Networks tab, if there is already a uowireless connection showing and next to it in parenthesis it reads "Manual", highlight the connection and click the "Remove" button.
4. After you have removed the manual uowireless connection, click "Add" . . . to create a new network connection.
5. For the Network Name (SSID), type in uowireless. Leave the Network Authentication as "Open". Change the Data Encryption to "Disabled". Click "OK".
After these steps are taken, your wireless connection should start to connect within a few minutes. If this still fails:
After step 2, select the Wireless Networks tab and then click "Advanced". Make sure the "Access Point (infrastructure) networks only", is selected.
If this fails, bring your computer in to the Help Desk, Room 280 for further assistance.
